Slack: I can't select a channel (invite the SurveyTale app)

Modified on Tue, Jun 2 at 3:30 PM

When you open Link Slack Channel in SurveyTale and the Select Channel dropdown is empty (or you see “you have to create at least one channel to be able to setup this integration”), it almost always means the SurveyTale app hasn’t been added to any Slack channel yet — not that you have no channels.

SurveyTale only lists Slack channels that the SurveyTale app is a member of. To fix it:

  1. In Slack, open the channel where you want survey responses posted.
  2. Type /invite @SurveyTale and send it — or click the channel name → IntegrationsAdd appsSurveyTale.
  3. Back in SurveyTale, reopen Settings → Integrations → Slack → Link new Survey. The channel now appears in the dropdown.

This applies to both public and private channels. Repeat the invite for any other channel you want to use as a response destination.
